A Chicago man, who has been sent to prison for previously dealing drugs in La Salle County, was arrested during a crack cocaine bust Wednesday in Ottawa.
At about 5 p.m., the Tri-DENT Drug Task Force, assisted by La Salle County deputies, Streator investigators and Ottawa police, conducted a buy/bust operation near York and Pearl Streets in Ottawa.
Police said Rashad D. Barksdale, 23, of Chicago, sold crack cocaine. Barksdale was paroled in March 2019 following a conviction in 2017 from unlawful delivery of a controlled substance in La Salle County conducted by the Tri-DENT Drug Task Force.
Barksdale was arrested on Chester Street in Ottawa and charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance. He was taken to La Salle County Jail. His bond was set at $1,000,000, needing $100,000 for release.
