Seneca Grade School: Tracy Justice

How do you think your school district does at managing the property tax rate?

Seneca Grade School had the lowest tax rate of all schools in Sa Salle and Grundy Counties at approximately 1.31% in 2017 and I hope to maintain the same tradition.

Rate the quality of education the district is providing.

Seneca Grade School has a history of providing quality education. My job allows me the opportunity to speak with many new homeowners in the district. A lot of times, new purchasers mention that the Seneca school system was a driving force in their decision to purchase their home.

What are your priorities for the next 4 years?

It's no secret that Illinois has a history of budget concerns. I plan to review the budget and work with my fellow board members to ensure Seneca Grade School continues to operate if state funding is reduced or removed. I have a background in the arts and unfortunately, those are the programs that are typically cut first. By looking for a long term plan, we can hopefully prevent program cuts that would reduce the rounded education our children deserve.

What do you see as the biggest issue facing your school district and how you would address it?

Seneca Grade School has a wonderful staff that provides our children with a great education. I want to ensure that we maintain the excellent services that we have while still looking for ways to improve the district and the education provided through ongoing education and training for our faculty and staff to ensure that Seneca Grade School remains a top-notch district.

What do you see as the school board member’s role?

One of the largest roles of a school board member is to represent the district's residents. School board members are the ears of the district in the community. Board members bring the concerns of their residents to the superintendent and other board members and help the residents find answers to their questions and concerns. School boards govern the school and set school policy. They view the district as a whole and oversee the superintendent to ensure that the district's policies and plans are enacted and maintained.
