Illinois Valley Community College has openings in health care courses for the second eight-week session beginning Monday, March 18.
u Introduction to Nutrition is being offered online in an eight-week session and acquaints the student with recent scientific findings in the nutrition field as well as methods used to evaluate information found in the media.
u Phlebotomy is offered from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Oglesby campus and focuses on proper collection of laboratory specimens. Prerequisites for this course apply.
u Industrial First Aid is offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays on the main campus and prepares students to recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions regarding care of people who are ill or injured. Students passing the course will receive American Red Cross certification in adult CPR and standard first aid.
u A Certified Nursing Assistant Refresher course is offered beginning Monday, April 15, at the Ottawa Center, 321 W. Main St. The course provides the opportunity for a CNA who has not provided nursing assistant-related services for a consecutive 24-month period to review and demonstrate the 21 manual performance skills. Upon successful completion of the course the student will be eligible to sit for the Illinois state licensure exam.
