Don and Joan (Mitchell) Tuftie of Earlville will be celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary. They were married on February 26th, 1949 at Utica Baptist Church. Their parents were the late Theodore & Myrtle Tuftie and Joseph & Virginia Mitchell.
In attendance at the ceremony was the late Velma (Wegner) Atey, cousin, as Maid of Honor, along with Bridesmaids, Helen (Spiros) Jacobs, best friend, and Lois (Tuftie) Peterson, sister-in-law, and Flower Girls, Marlene Tuftie, Connie (Cantlin) Miller, and Sharon (Mitchell) Lucas. Also in attendance was the late Tom Landers as Best Man, along with Groomsmen, the late Lyle Olson and the late John Mitchell, and Ring Bearer Gary Tuftie.
Don and Joan are the parents of three children, Gregory (Donna) Tuftie of Oak Forest, Randy (Nancy) Tuftie of Marseilles, and Steven (Diana) Tuftie of Ottawa. They are also the proud grandparents to four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Don retired from work as a farmer and Teamsters Local 722 and Joan retired from District 3 Department of Transportation. A family dinner will be held in honor of this significant occasion.
