Jan. 19 first ONLL registration

Three dates are set for Ottawa National Little League registration for T-Ball, Instructional, Minor, Major and Junior divisions.

Registrations will be held Sat., Jan. 19 (9 a.m.-noon), Wed., Feb. 6 (5-8 p.m.), and Sat., Feb. 9 (9 a.m.-noon) at Trinity Lutheran Church, 717 Chambers St. For more information, visit

Streator Girls Softball registration info

Streator Girls Softball will be holding 2019 registration both online (at and in person on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Streator Community Center (old Sherman School) from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Players must be at least six years old as of Aug. 31, 2019, and either sell 10 reaffle tickets or pay a $100 registration fee. First-time players must show a copy of their birth certificate.

OALL registration this Saturday

Four dates are scheduled for Ottawa American Little League registration for Major, Minor, Instructional and T-Ball divisions, all held at Ottawa's K of C Hall at 401 W. Main St.

Registration will be held Sat., Jan. 12 (9 a.m.-noon), Tue., Jan. 22 (6-8 p.m.), Wed., Jan. 23 (6-8 p.m.) and Sat., Jan. 26 (9 a.m.-noon). Those registering on Jan. 12 will get early bird discounts applied.

Shepherd 8s win SRC Tourney title

The Shepherd eighth-grade boys basketball team won the Starved Rock Conference Tournament, beating Mendota Northbrook 54-46. Levi Sheehan's 23 points, Aiden Mucci's 11 points and 11 rebounds, Conner Price's eight points and six points from Dillan Quatrano led the Rams (17-3).

Marquette spikers split matches

Marquette's eighth-grade spikers bested Marseilles 25-6, 25-19, led by Eva McCallum (eight aces, three kills), Lindsey Kaufmann (six aces, three kills, four assists), Kaylee Kilellea (four aces, four assists), Abbey Thumm (two assists), Gabby Hortega (two kills) and Darby Morganflash (three digs).

Marquette's 7s fell 25-13, 27-25, and were paced by Sarah Duchon (four aces), Natalie Dyche (three aces, three assists), Grace Dose, Nora Rinearson and Gwen Verona (two kills each), and Lilly Craig and Emma Rinearson (three digs apiece).

Cyclones spikers split

In play against Marquette, Central's fifth-grade volleyball team won 25-15, 14-25, 15-9 (Mary Stisser 15 service points). The Central 6s fell 25-21, 25-11 (Kyra Smith seven points).
