7th-grade Panthers now 14-0

The seventh-grade Northlawn boys basketball team improved to 14-0 with a 42-9 handling of Mendota Northbrook in an SRC Tournament semifinal. Christian Benning (16 points, five assists), Logan Aukland (six points) and Quinn Baker (six points) led Northlawn's 7s.

Shepherd 8s make title tilt

Shepherd's eighth-grade boys cagers topped Peru Parkside 40-24 in an SRC Tournament semifinal to move to 16-3 on the season. Dillan Quatrano scored 14 points and tallied six assists, Levi Sheehan scored nine points, and Ryan Chamberlain tallied seven points.

Central volleyball opens year

The Central lady Cyclones spikers lost its openers to Channahon. The sixth-grade team fell 25-21, 25-20 despite Hailey Larsen's eight service points, while the Central 5s were topped 26-24, 25-15 with Emma Cummings serving up eight points.

Streator Girls Softball registration info

Streator Girls Softball will be holding 2019 registration both online (at www.leaguelineup.com/streatorgirlssoftball) and in person on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Streator Community Center (old Sherman School) from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Players must be at least six years old as of Aug. 31, 2019, and either sell 10 reaffle tickets or pay a $100 registration fee. First-time players must show a copy of their birth certificate.

Ottawa American Little League registration

Four dates are scheduled for Ottawa American Little League registration for Major, Minor, Instructional and T-Ball divisions, all held at Ottawa's K of C Hall at 401 W. Main St.

Registration will be held Sat., Jan. 12 (9 a.m.-noon), Tue., Jan. 22 (6-8 p.m.), Wed., Jan. 23 (6-8 p.m.) and Sat., Jan. 26 (9 a.m.-noon). Those registering on Jan. 12 will get early bird discounts applied.
