Cusick wants more time

The attorney for an Ottawa man charged with murdering his wife wants trial put off.

Kenneth Cusick, 51, was charged in February 2017 with murdering his wife, Tracy Cusick, in 2006 in their Ottawa home. Jury trial is Monday, Nov. 5, but Cusick's attorney, Ryan Hamer, put in a request Thursday for trial to be rescheduled.

Hamer explained the prosecution filed three motions this week, to which he must respond, with the motions involving "fairly complex legal issues." Hamer added he will also be filing motions.

Hamer said he also needs more time, because two experts he has hired will not turn in their reports until the end of this month, which leaves little time to review the reports and incorporate their contents into his case by Nov. 5.

The next court hearing is Friday, Oct. 12.
