Hi, I’m Benjamin Donner, and I’m a Chicago Bears fan.
I became a Chicago Bears fan, really, ever since I was born back in June 2002. When your whole family is (mostly) Bears fans, I kind of had to become a Bears fan. I was always dressed in sports clothing and more than 50 percent of those clothes were Chicago Bears clothes.
However, the real reason I started to enjoy watching Chicago Bears football was because of one man. This was no ordinary man, this man could change the entire game as soon as he touched the football, and his name happened to be Devin Hester.
Devin changed the entire way I looked and still look at the game, ábecause when I was younger, I would mimic his performance after each game. He also made me want to play football at his personal position of return man. I hope the Chicago Bears can add someone as explosive and dynamic as Devin Hester.
I am excited for this upcoming season, because although the Bears did not add a player as memorable and exciting as Hester, they did add arguably the best defensive player to an already top 10 defense, in Khalil Mack.
Now, I know that most of you reading this probably think the Oakland Raiders are probably the biggest dummies in the NFL. I am not here to lie to you people because I would not disagree with my previous statement. Chicago Bears fans probably rejoiced once they heard the trade news, and I am not going to sit here and say I didn’t do the same thing, because guess what, I probably did. I think the defense has all the tools to get back to being that dominant defense of the Monsters of the Midway.
Now I have a bold prediction and hopefully you will agree with me on this. Khalil Mack for Defensive Player of the Year, and maybe even bolder, Mack for MVP. I sound crazy, right? But, look at Lawrence Taylor in the 1986 season. He only had to record 20.5 sacks, so it can be done. All I know is that the defense should bring a whole new excitement to this team and should help carry this Chicago Bears football team.
Most importantly, I would like to see the Bears improve their record and succeed. After all these additions, like finding the right coach (hopefully), adding your franchise quarterback, having your defense finally good again, the Chicago Bears have the tools in place to succeed. The Bears can get back into Super Bowl form in a couple of years, but of course every team can actually have a shot as soon as Tom Brady retires and when Rob Gronkowski slows down. I don’t know about you, but I do not see that happening any time in the near future.
But I am getting off topic, so to summarize, all of what I have said, basically, is I am a proud Chicago Bears fan, and I will always be a proud Chicago Bears fan.
As always, I am your friendly neighborhood junior in high school and until next time, this is Ben10 signing out.
