La Salle County

Meghan Burns, 34, Ottawa, was arrested at 10:06 p.m. Wednesday at Route 23 and East 1251st Road on complaints of DUI, driving while license suspended, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Burns was traveling westbound on Route 23 when a deer ran onto the roadway. Burns applied her breaks and attempted to swerve to avoid the deer but ended up in the south side ditch and was treated by Grand Ridge EMS. Burns was taken to the county jail.

Kiaela Bracy, 38, Aurora, was arrested at 1:08 a.m. Thursday at Route 71 and Interstate 80 for no valid driver's license. Bracy was taken to the county jail and given a notice to appear.

DeKalb County

Jolie A. Wood, 53, Sandwich, was arrested at 7:59 p.m. Wednesday at Somonauk and Bastian roads on a complaint of driving with a revoked license. She was released with a court date.

Fire calls

Ottawa firefighters responded at 11:56 a.m. Wednesday to The Ottawa Dental Lab, 1304 Starfire Drive, for an alarm caused by a toaster.

Ottawa firefighters responded at 8:56 a.m. Wednesday to 400 E. Washington St. smoke caused by cooking. Area was ventilated and alarm reset.
