FLANAGAN — The Flanagan-Cornell Lady Falcons defeated the Fieldcrest Knights 25-19, 25-21 in a Heart of Illinois Conference volleyball match Thursday night.
Kayla VanWeelden pounded out 10 kills to lead the Flanagan-Cornell (13-6-1 overall, 3-1 HOIC) attack. Madelyn Forney fingerpushed 12 assists. Molly Garretson led the defense by coming up with 12 digs.
For Fieldcrest (10-1 overall), Emma Peterson had five kills and nine digs, and Alaina Tjaden eight assists.
Indian Creek def. Ottawa 25-19, 20-25, 25-15
At Shabbona, the Lady Pirates dropped the nonconference match to the Timberwolves in three sets.
Peotone def. Sandwich 25-20, 21-25, 25-19
At Peotone, the Lady Indians were defeated in three sets.
For Sandwich (9-10, 0-4), Sophia Datoli had eight kills, Jaylynn Vana and Audrey Rome six kills each, Ava Knepper 21 assists and three aces, Olive Tornga 18 digs and Casey Delphey 17 digs.
Coal City def. Streator 25-14, 25-23
At Pops Dale Gymnasium, the host Bulldog Spikers suffered the I-8 defeat.
Earlville def. LaMoille-Ohio 25-18, 25-19
At Earlville, the Raiders moved to 3-0 in Little Ten play by defeating the Lady Lions.
Alex Koontz and Kylie Koontz pounded out eight kills apiece to lead the Earlville (8-3) attack. Kelsey Chapman fingerpushed 21 assists. Alex Koontz served up a trio of aces as well and led the defense by coming up with 12 digs. Kylie Koontz also put up a pair of blocks.
Leland def. Hinckley-Big Rock 25-9, 25-13
At Leland, the Panthers beat the Lady Royals in the straight games in an LTC match.
Julia Niles pounded out seven kills to lead the Leland attack. Emma Roth had 10 service points.
Serena def. Parkview Christian 25-21, 25-22
At Serena, the Lady Huskers defeated Parkview Christian in two sets.
Emily Hook pounded out seven kills to lead the Serena attack. Lyla Thorpen fingerpushed 13 assists. Cali Olavarri served up a trio of aces. Jamie Young led the defense by coming up with nine digs. Tori Pavnica and Cali Olavarri each put up three blocks.
Coal City 4, Sandwich 1
At Sandwich, Elian Benitez tallied the Indians' goal during their I-8 loss to the Coalers. Sead Sejdiu had 12 saves for Sandwich (1-11-1 overall, 1-5 I-8).
La Salle-Peru 172, Ottawa 177
At Deer Park, T.J. McDonnell carded a 39 to earn medalist honors for the Pirates during their Northern Illinois Big 12 West loss to the Cavaliers.
Ottawa's other three counting scores were Joe Connell (45), Kadon Harth (46) and Caden Ericzon (47).
Seneca 190, Woodland 209
At Nettle Creek, the Fighting Irish defeated the Warriors in a Tri-County Conference dual meet.
Dillion Conroy shot a 46 to pace Seneca. He was followed by Brett Yegge (47), Holden Flynn (48) and A.J. Stiegler (49). Woodland received a medalist-winning 36 from Tyler Jenkins as well as a 57 from Brad Simpson and 58s off the clubs of Eric Schultz and Christian Miller.
Indian Creek 199, Sandwich 225
At Edgebrook Country Club in Sandwich, the Indians were defeated, though Connor Wilson shot a 50. Rounding out the Indians' top four scorers were Ryan Pruski (56), Tyler Bols (56) and Aidan Sullivan (61).
Newark-Serena wins pair of duels
The Newark-Serena Norsemen won a couple of dual meets this week.
On Wednesday at Dwight Country Club, Newark-Serena defeated Dwight. Connor Baker and Corey Jacobson each shot 41s to pace the Norsemen. Brett Myre added a 43 and Wyatt Snyder a 45.
On Tuesday at Indian Oaks, Newark-Serena beat Hinckley-Big Rock. Baker carded a 42 to earn medalist honors and lead the Norsemen.
Sandwich 237, Indian Creek 273
At Edgebrook, Grace Donahue carded a 54 to earn medalist honors and lead the Lady Indians. Alijah Campbell shot a 58 for Sandwich. Rounding out the Lady Indians' top four scorers were Morgan Ross (61) and Josie Gonzalez (64).
Coal City def. Streator 15-25, 25-4, 25-16
At Pops Dale Gymnasium, Jozie Cole had four kills and six assists, Halie Grace four kills and Mallory Goerne three aces for Streator during its I-8 loss to Coal City.
Marquette def. Seneca 18-25, 25-16, 25-23
At Seneca, the deciding set was tied 23-23 when an SHS hitting error and an ace by Paige Cottingim gave MA the match.
Cottingim finished with four kills, six digs and four aces, while Evelyn Biggins added three kills, four digs and a block and Lauren Rayburn a dig, a block and 10 assists. Josie Eager added five digs and two aces.

At Deer Park, Michael Bruner carded a 49 to earn medalist honors and lead the Corsairs to the dual-meet win. Noah Stoudt and Megan Bessett shot 50s. Tyce Love rounded out Ottawa's top four with a 54.

At La Salle, the Lady Corsairs edged L-P in a NIB 12 dual meet.
Posting a singles win for Ottawa was Kyleigh Olszewski at No. 2 (6-1, 6-3). Notching doubles victories were Mary Riva and Haley Roalson at No. 1 (2-6, 6-3, 10-8), and Tessa Thiry and Avery Landers at No. 2 (6-4, 6-1).
Exhibition winners for Ottawa were Zayan Shams and Autumn Kunkel, Paris Blankenship and Skylar Rudnicky, and Riva and Emily Walker.
