The Charles B. Phillips Library, 6 N. Jackson St., Newark, will present the following programs.
u Summer Reading Program: Stop by to sign up for the “Reading Takes You Everywhere” summer reading program. The reading program is open up to all ages. Earn prizes as you read this summer. Throughout the summer, the library will offer youth activities including movies, crafts, activities, and special presentations. Adult programs include, Book Chats, Friday Matinees, Hand and Foot Canasta, and special programs.
u T-Rexplorers: Hold authentic dinosaur bones like those seen in museums at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, May 31. T-Rex-plorers will take you on an adventure straight from the cretaceous period with a peek into the world of dinosaur science and paleontology. See dinosaur fossil types from numerous species including favorites like Triceratops and T-Rex. Free event tickets can be picked up at the library starting May 17. Tickets must be presented day of program.
u Author Talk: “Growing Up Hall and Tall” By Lynnette Diane Hall Johnson: “Newark High school was indeed a family affair.” Local author, Lynnette Diane Hall Johnson will be at the library at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 31, to discuss her memoir, “Growing Up Hall and Tall: A Memoir of Living in the Bosom of a Large Family.” Her book addresses living on a farm, memories of attending Newark High, to other memories of local towns including, Lisbon and Morris.
u Fossil Craft: It’s prehistoric week and starting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, stop in and make a fossil. Limited spots available; registration required.
u Movie Day: ‘Early Man’: Kick off summer with a movie at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, with the showing of “Early Man.” Refreshments and popcorn will be provided.
u Hand & Foot Canasta: Don’t know how to play Hand & Foot Canasta? Don’t fret, learn how to play and enjoy the afternoon playing with other card lovers at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 25.
