MARSEILLES ROTARY

The April 30 meeting included Doug Bryun, Joanie Combs, Mick Garrison, Leslie Hart, Jim Hollenbeck, Bobby Kaminski, Hank Roe, Audrey Sherwood, Kent Terry and Don Weber.

Thanks to the leadership of Fire Chief and Rotarian Mick Garrison, the May 5 kickoff of the Sound the Alarm program was a success. Rotarians Kerry Caba and Terry joined Mayor and fireman Jim Hollenbeck and eight volunteer firemen and installed smoke alarms in 26 homes.

A trip around the Great Circle in a sailboat requires a lot of logistics as Jake Krancic pointed out last week in a slide program. Bill Kuiper returned from a trip to the Netherlands and will give a program. Andrew Hancock attended Rotary Youth Leadeship Awards.

From Tuesday, June 12, through Friday, June 15, Terry will join other Evangelical Lutheran Church in America World Hunger leaders from Northern Illinois and ride bikes from Rockford to Augustana College for the church assembly. Pledges are being taken to raise money for ELCA World Hunger programs.

Monday program schedule is May 14, Hank Roe; May 21, Sherwood; May 28, no meeting; June 4, Weber; June 11, Jane Beavers; June 18, Bryun; June 25, Caba; and July 2, change of gavel.
