Morris Theatre Guild prepares Murder Mystery “Postmortem”

Cast members are busy preparing for the opening of MTG’s newest play, "Postmortem," on May 18 at Morris Theatre Guild. Fans of Sherlock Holmes will enjoy the story of William Gillette who played the iconic character onstage in the 20s. When he invites his cast to his Connecticut castle for the weekend, the mystery grows as we discover clues leading to the murderer of a cast member.

Actors Sandee and Phil Cunningham from Channahon enjoy working on shows together. Sandee plays Lilly, William’s aunt, and Phil plays Leo Barnett, one of the actors. They also have a third family member in this show. The suit of armor that graces the stage is Sir Cunningham, from their home. They love the suspense that builds throughout this show, keeping everyone guessing as the story develops.

Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. May 18, 19, 25 and 26. Matinees are Sunday at 2:30 p.m. May 20 and 27. Tickets can be purchased at the door or pre-ordered online at morristheatreguild.org or by calling 815-942-1966.

Morris Theatre Guild is located at 516 W. Illinois Ave. in Morris.
