SENECA — Harlan J. “Shorty” Neimann, 89, of Seneca, passed away Friday, May 4, at Aperion Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Seneca with the Rev. Kassa Augustine officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Seneca with military honors.

Shorty was born Nov. 13, 1928, in St. Charles, S.D., to Julius and Emma (Pfaff) Neimann. In 1948, he married Elaine Pellegrini, of Seneca, who preceded him in death in 1987. In 2004, he married Sandra Renz, of Seneca, who survives.

He served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Houston. He was employed by Caterpillar in Joliet until his retirement. He also worked for Myre Farms for many years and owned and operated Shorty’s Saw Sharpening Shop and Lawn Mower Repair.

Shorty is survived by his wife, Sandy; his children, Ron (Mary Anne) Neimann, of Streator, Mary Renee Neimann, of Ottawa, and Rob (Sherry) Neimann, of Seneca; his stepchildren, Bill (Jean) Stapleton, of Marseilles, and Lisa (David) Voice, of Ottawa; 11 grandchildren, Jay (Heather ) Nettleingham, Julie (Ben) Donahue, Mitchell and Megan Neimann, Aaron and Lexi Chadwick, Tiffany (Shaun) Hornbeck, Brittany and Amy Nichols, Tristen Reddick and Taylor Stapleton; many great- and great-great-grandchildren with one more on the way; one sister, Ramona Pellegrini, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Morris; and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Neimann and Emma Neimann-Brown; his wife, Elaine; three sons, Rick, Rodney and Rusty Neimann; one granddaughter, Karrie Ann Neiman; one brother, Jimmy Neimann; three sisters, Virginia Fatlan, Rosemary Barra and Evelyn Peacock; and a stepson, Brad Stapleton.
