SOMONAUK — The Somonauk Bobcats clinched the Little Ten Conference baseball championship Friday afternoon by defeating the Newark Norsemen 12-7.
Somonauk (16-0-1 overall, 13-0 LTC) used a five-run fifth inning get the "W."
Drew Westbrook (3-for-4, double, four runs batted in) and Brady Kreiter (3-for-5) had three hits apiece to lead the Bobcats' offense. Nolan Wegener (2-for-2, double) and Chris Franzone (2-for-3) each added a pair of hits.
Steven Kenyon got the win on the mound. He allowed six runs (three earned) and six hits with three walks and six strikeouts in five innings pitched.
Jacob Slivka went 3-for-4 at the plate for Newark. Connor Swanson was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Slivka (4 1/3 IP, 8 R, 5 ER, 7 H, 7 BB, 4 K) took the pitching loss.
Ottawa 5, Geneseo 3
At Geneseo, the Pirates plated a trio of runs during the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie and defeat the Maple Leafs in a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference West Division contest.
Nathan Weitzel (2-for-3), Logan Cheatham (double) and Jared Herzog all had a pair of hits to lead the Ottawa (11-13, 4-5) offense.
Herzog got the win on the mound. He allowed three runs (zero earned) and four hits with five walks and eight strikeouts in five innings pitched. Bradley Ruger threw 1 2/3 innings of one-hit, scoreless relief with no walks and two strikeouts to notch the save.
Manteno 11, Sandwich 0 (5 inn.)
At Sandwich, the Indians fell to the Panthers in an Interstate Eight Conference game.
Austin Salemi had a double to account for the lone Sandwich (10-11, 7-5) hit. Hayden Isham (3 IP, 7 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 1 K) took the pitching loss.
Prairie Central 10, Fieldcrest 9
At Fairbury, the Knights gave up seven runs during the sixth inning of their nonconference loss to the Hawks.
Hayden Carls (two runs batted in), Derek May (2-for-3, homer, five runs batted in) and Matt Cook (2-for-3) all had a pair of hits for Fieldcrest (7-8). Noah Nordstrom had a double and scored three runs. Michael Morse (1 IP, 6 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 1 K) was charged with the pitching loss.
Ottawa 12, Yorkville 1 (5 inn.)
At Yorkville, the ICA Class 3A No. 2 state-ranked Lady Pirates posted their fifth win in as many days by beating the Lady Foxes in five innings in a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference crossover game.
Sloan Gayan went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, five runs batted in and three runs scored to pace the Ottawa (19-2, 9-1) offense. Jazzy Bowman (2-for-2, double), Molly Harris (home run, double, five RBIs), Bailey Simpson and Cassie Claus all added a pair of hits.
Gayan also recorded the win in the circle. She surrendered an unearned run and four hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
Marquette 11, Peoria Christian 0 (6 inn.)
At June Gross Field, the ICA Class 1A No. 8 state-ranked Lady Crusaders blanked the Lady Chargers in six innings in a Tri-County Conference game.
Allie Snook went 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, two doubles and three runs batted in to lead the Marquette (15-4, 10-0) offense. Makenna Tkach (double, two RBIs), Hannah Cowie (2-for-3) and Abbey Owens (2-for-3, triple, double) all added a pair of hits.
Tkach fired a two-hit shutout in the circle, walking one batter and striking out 11.
Reed-Custer 8, Seneca 1
At Seneca, the ICA Class 2A fifth-ranked Lady Irish saw their 20-game winning streak halted by the No. 20 Lady Comets in an Interstate Eight Conference game.
Taylor Bushman, Cassidy Draves, Maggie Carpenter and Britney Helms (run batted in) accounted for the four Seneca (23-2, 12-1) hits. Carpenter (2 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 1 K) took the pitching loss.
Manteno 14, Sandwich 0 (5 inn.)
At Sandwich, the Lady Indians were no-hit by the ICA Class 3A No. 6 state-ranked Panthers in five innings in an I-8 game. Grace Schmidt (2 1/3 IP, 9 ER, 11 H, 1 BB, 1 K) took the pitching loss.

At Somonauk, the ICA Class 1A top-ranked Lady Bobcats edged the Lady Norsemen in a Little Ten Conference contest.
Tayler Fall went the distance in the circle to record the win. She allowed two earned runs and five hits with one walk and six strikeouts. Fall also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles to lead the Somonauk offense.
Jocelyn Mitchell had a triple, a run batted in and a run scored for Newark (12-5, 8-3). Sophie Schomer (6 IP, 4 ER, 11 H, 0 BB, 5 K) took the pitching loss.
Fieldcrest 9, Prairie Central 0
At Fairbury, the Knights blanked the Hawks in a Heart of Illinois Conference game.
Alaina Tjaden went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double to lead the Fieldcrest offense. Addie Goodrich (double) and Alivia Tjaden (2-for-3, two runs batted in) added a pair of hits apiece. Aubrey McNamara also doubled and had two RBIs.
Emma Lorton fired a seven-hit shutout in the circle. She didn't walk a batter and struck out 15.

Huskers, Lady Huskers compete in Dwight
The Serena Huskers and Lady Huskers competed in a quadrangular meet in Dwight on Thursday.
In the boys meet, Serena's A.J. Kuhn was a double-individual winner, taking firsts in the high jump and 800-meter run. A pair of relay teams were runner-up: Ryan Ensor, Brandt Faivre, Charlie Hoppis and Kunh in the 1600, and Ensor, Faivre, Hoppis and Brock Klinge in the 400.
In the girls meet, Elly Kuhn won the long jump and 200. Macy Rodrick was runner-up in the high jump.
Manteno 1, Streator 0
At Manteno on Thursday, the Interstate Eight Conference contest was scoreless through two overtimes before the Panthers scored three times on penalty kicks and the Lady Bulldogs didn't.
Emma Harris had 15 saves for Streator (10-4-1, 6-3).
Marquette 16, Henry-Senachwine 4 (5 inn.)
At Henry, Nick Melvin (double) and Grant Waldron (triple, two runs batted in) had three hits apiece to lead the Marquette (12-1) offense during its win over Henry-Senachwine in five innings. Carter Spears (double, three RBIs), Jake Thomas (two RBIs) and Jake Mitchell (double, two RBIs) all added a pair of hits.
Spears got the win on the mound, striking out nine batters. Vic Mullen struck out four in relief.
Yorkville 3, Ottawa 1
At Yorkville, Sara Gerding had an RBI single, scoring Josie Mooney, for the Lady Corsairs during their NIB 12 loss to Yorkville. Kylie Zoran was the losing pitcher.

At Manteno on Thursday, Hayleigh Angelico scored a pair of goals to lead Streator (5-1-2) during its I-8 win over Manteno. Ashlyn Rogers, Amber Ingram, Regan Good and Nadia Murphy all tallied a goal. McKenna Tkach notched three assists. Mia Kolodiej, Isabel Kashke and Denise Granados all tallied an assist. Amanda Moran had five saves.
