Music program entails narrative and song

SOMONAUK — Barry Cloyd will return to the Somonauk Public Library for a musical program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17. Cloyd titles his original program "Our Land Between The River, Illinois In Story & Song." He will perform on guitars, banjo, Dubro and other stringed instruments. The program has an in-depth focus, both through narrative and song, into some of the important events and people who have shaped the amazing history of our state.

Cloyd is a Midwestern-based, touring singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, performing more than 200 shows per year, who has spent a lifetime creating a performance style that weaves the genres of blues, folk, Celtic, original and roots music into a unique blend all his own. A strong vocalist and multi-instrumentalist as well as a storyteller, theatrical performer and historian, Cloyd uses a multitude of guitars and other stringed instruments, such as five-string banjo, mandolin, requinto and bouzouki.
