LIVINGSTON COUNTY AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
County President Mary Miles called to order the Livingston County American Legion 17th District Meeting. Prairie Central School Madigral Choir provided entertainment. Chaplain Lucy Haberkorn provided the prayer. Marsha Haag gave treasurer’s report and secretary Deb McKinney reported minutes to the 32 members present. Haag spoke about Chatsworth Blue Bird Project; Chatsworth is the bluebird capital of Illinois. The Preamble is on the back of all membership cards. Springfield has a shelter for women veterans and children if units want to donate household goods.
Thursday, July 12, to Saturday, July 14, will be the Department Convention. An 11-year-old girl will speak about bullying. Cornell donated to Honor Flights for Veterans. Long Point President Mary Taylor stated Memorial Day services will be at 10 a.m. at Long Point Fire House then to Long Point Cemetary for the ceremony. Roseann Coers reported 24 out of 40 units got the annual reports in. The 17th District has raised enough funds for three nurses scholarships.
Upcoming meetings include 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, in Arrowsmith; Sunday, June 3, 4th Division Meeting in Springfield; and Monday, July 30, county meeting in Long Point.
