President Maria Rubio-Moore called to order the Streator Zonta club April Inter-City meeting.
Guests included Eileen Fesco from the Ottawa Chapter and Linda Hiltrabrand from the La Salle-Peru club. Thank you notes from schools were read for donations to their science, technology, engineering and math programs.
The Celebrity Bartending Fundraising Committee shared new ideas for the event that will be Saturday, July 14, at Teke’s Bar & Grill. The club will seek out businesses to work the fundraiser. Businesses will be invited to advertise. The Bar Trivia Hour will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Marc Cheffer will prepare questions. Ellen Rapp reported the community lunch the club sponsored April 15 went well, with 78 meals served.
Zonta Scholarship winners will be invited to the May meeting. Other events will be the Domestic Violence Luminary Walk Thursday, Oct. 18, along with the “Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women” Campaign planned for 13 days in November. Deirdre Toler will be chairwoman for this event. The club will host lunch for the Walldogs in June; they will be in Streator Wednesday, June 27, to Sunday, July 1.
Any woman is invited to be a member of Streator Zonta and can email Rubio-Moore at firstname.lastname@example.org.
