Drug unit seizes 130 pounds of marijuana on I-80

2 California residents arrested on drug charges

Two California men were picked up in Bureau County with marijuana and heroin.

Timothy S. Elliott, 45, and Xoche E. Wright, 40, both of Ukiah, Calif., were arrested on complaints of drug charges by the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team.

Tri-DENT encountered a vehicle with California registration at the Interstate 80 eastbound rest area in Bureau County. Tri-DENT K9 Agent Bailey was deployed to conduct a free air sniff on the vehicle and detected the odors coming from the vehicle.

Tri-DENT officials spoke to Elliott and Wright and conducted a search of the vehicle, which contained 130 vacuum sealed packages containing marijuana weighing 130 pounds along with 9 grams of purported heroin.

Elliott and Wright were placed in custody and transported to the Princeton Police Department.

Elliott was later charged with unlawful possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver more than 5,000 grams, a class X felony, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (heroin), a class four felony.

Wright was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver more than 5,000 grams, a class X felony.

Elliott and Wright were transported to the Bureau County Jail to await a felony bond hearing.
