CLUB - Streator's Leading Ladies

Streator’s Leading Ladies met April 19. Vice President and Program Chairwoman Pam Riss introduced the speaker, Gavin Finefield, who spoke about Fine Field Pottery. He has been doing pottery full time for three years and moved his business into K’S Secret Garden.

President Dianne O’Hern conducted the business meeting. A thank you was read from Streator Unlimited for Easter treats.

Kim Donner, scholarship chairwoman, reported she and her committee, Kathy Hawthorne and Kathy Iverson, reviewed scholarship applicants. Six were received from Streator High School and three from Woodland and there were no applicants for the Maxine Wargo Scholarship.

Donner spoke about the sesquicentennial postage stamp Streator and Woodland High art class project. Stamps may be viewed through May at the post office and the public can vote for their favorite by purchasing one stamp for one vote. Stamps will be donated to the schools.

Dorothy Hozie, philanthropic chairwoman, and committee recommended $500 be given to the Streator Walldogs; members agreed.

Officers for 2018-2019 are Riss, president; O’Hern, vice president; Hozie, secretary; and Carolyn Erler, treasurer. The spring dance for Streator Unlimited will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 25, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church; volunteers are needed.

The next meeting will be Thursday, May 17, at Chipper’s, with math and scholarship winners present.
