La Salle County

Jennifer Harper, 34, Wyanet, was arrested 9:37 a.m. Thursday at the La Salle County Clerk's Office on a La Salle County warrant on a battery charge. Harper was taken to the county jail.

Ottawa

Joshua J. Szarka, 27, Ottawa, was arrested Thursday at East Superior and Post streets on a complaint of possession of a controlled substance. Szarka was taken to La Salle County Jail.

Joshua D. Smith Jr., 20, Peru, and Joshua D. Smith, Sr., 40, were cited Thursday on the 800 block of Illinois Avenue on complaints of misdemeanor theft. They were given a notice to appear in court.

Jane Szarka, 49, Ottawa, was arrested Thursday at 1205 Ontario St. on a failure to appear warrant on a charge of driving while license suspended. She was taken to La Salle County Jail.

Ronald G. Staple, Ottawa, was arrested Monday at Marquette and Chestnut streets on a complaint of driving while license suspended. Staple was released on individual bond.

Streator

Brandi Hudziak, 40, Streator, was cited 11:37 a.m. Thursday at East Hickory and North Park streets on complaints of driving while license suspended and failure to signal. Hudziak presented individual bond.

A lawnmower was reported stolen sometime overnight Wednesday on the 700 block of East Elm Street.

DeKalb County

Cassie M. James, 34, Sandwich, was arrested 7:37 p.m. Thursday at Chicago and Somonauk roads on complaints of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram of purported heroin), unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and a DeKalb County warrant. She was taken to DeKalb County Jail.

Fire calls

Streator firefighters assisted 7:55 a.m. Friday in a two-vehicle crash at Madison and Grant streets.
