Ottawa Opportunity School, a play-based preschool, will have a 50th anniversary kickoff picnic at Fox River Park on Sunday, April 29. The event will involve current families and former school families.
At 2 p.m. families and students will parade with a banner from Fox River Park along the river walk to Opportunity School (housed in First Presbyterian Church) to hang the banner on the playground and then tour the classrooms and enjoy cookies provided by the church.
On Saturday, June 9, the school will host its 50th Anniversary Community Fun Day in the Park with 10 other agencies. A free children’s event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
