Trial reset in murder case

A new trial date was set in an Ottawa murder case.

Kenneth Cusick, 50, Ottawa, was charged last year with murdering his wife, Tracy Cusick, in 2006 in their Ottawa home. Cusick is out of custody on $500,000 cash bond.

At a hearing Thursday, Cusick's attorney, Ryan Hamer, said he has received 24 autopsy slides from the prosecution and needs nine more, with the slides to be examined by a defense expert. As a consequence, Hamer said he would not be ready for trial, as set for June 25, and needed more time.

Prosecutor George Mueller said he understood Hamer's situation, but nonetheless objected. However, Circuit Judge Cynthia Raccuglia agreed to reschedule trial to Monday, Aug. 13. The next hearing is Thursday, June 14.
