OSF Wound Care Clinic physicians, leaders and clinicians gathered to celebrate the President’s Circle Award, which was given to OSF Wound Care Clinic in recognition of a Center of Distinction with outstanding performance. The Center was awarded this prestigious honor by Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The OSF Clinic achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction exceeding 92 percent and a wound healing rate of 93 percent within 28 median days to heal. There were 635 Centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award, but only 16 achieved this honor.
“This award shows the Clinic’s commitment to patients and to the quality of care provided,” said Heather Hawkins, OSF Wound Care Clinic program director. “The role is not only to provide the best care to patients, but to build a connection with patients and encourage the healing process.”
The Clinic is a member of the Healogics network of nearly 700 wound care centers and provides access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. It offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments include negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.
“The goal is to deliver the individualized care needed to achieve complete healing of complex wounds,” said Marc Leonard, OSF Wound Care Clinic medical director.
