MANTENO — The Streator Bulldogs were defeated 5-2 by the Manteno Panthers in an Interstate Eight Conference game Thursday afternoon.
Lucas Sharisky had two hits for Streator (6-5 overall, 3-3 I-8). Mitch Vickers had a run batted in. Zack Grabowski took the pitching loss.
Peoria Christian 5, WFC 1
At Peoria, the Warriors held a 1-0 edge before the Chargers scored all five of their runs in the sixth inning to defeat Woodland/Flanagan-Cornell in a Tri-County Conference game.
Kyle Voytko had two hits and scored the run for the Warriors (3-7, 2-4). Losing pitcher Chandler Hillebrenner (6 IP, 5 ER, 9 H, 0 BB, 4 K), had a double.
Seneca 9, Plano 3
At Plano, the Fighting Irish used a four-run third inning and rode the pitching of freshman Gage Cryder to the I-8 win over the Reapers.
Sam Grushkin went 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple, double and three runs scored to lead the Seneca (5-3, 3-2) offense. Uriah Tobolsky added a pair of hits, including a triple, and two runs batted in. Ashton Harty doubled.
Cryder went the distance on the mound to get the win. He allowed three runs (two earned) and four hits with three walks and 12 strikeouts.
Sandwich 7, Reed-Custer 3
At Braidwood, the Indians scored four times over the initial two innings and tacked on three more runs in the fifth to defeat the Comets in an I-8 game.
Christopher Schiera and Andrew Gipe (double) had a pair of hits apiece and each crossed the plate twice to lead the Sandwich (4-8, 2-3) offense.
Sean Smith (4 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 4 K) was credited with the win on the mound in relief of starter Zach Hix (3 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 K).
Somonauk 12, Serena 2 (5 inn.)
At Somonauk, the Bobcats plated a trio of runs in the opening inning to propel them to the Little Ten Conference win over the Huskers in five innings.
Sam Brooks, who got the win on the mound (5 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 8 K), went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs batted in to lead the Somonauk (9-0-1, 6-0) offense. Brady Kreiter (2-for-2, home run, double, three RBIs, three runs scored), Andrew Johnson (2-for-2, two RBIs) and Nolan Wegener (2-for-3, triple, two RBIs) all added a pair of hits.
Trace Berggren, Preston Duffy, A.J. Kuhn and Jack Rogers accounted for the four Serena (5-2, 4-1) hits. Connor Baker (4 IP, 10 ER, 10 H, 1 BB, 3 K) took the pitching loss.

At LaMoille, the Raiders scored nine times in the second inning en route to the LTC win over the LIons in five innings.
Porter Wesson (double, four runs scored), Brennan Sweeney (four runs batted in), Tyler Bretsch (2-for-2, double, two RBIs), Keegan Johnson (2-for-3, three RBIs) and Davis Sweeney (2-for-3, two RBIs) all had a pair of hits to lead the Earlville-Leland-Paw Paw offense. Jared Pickert and Jake Pickert both doubled.

At Manteno, the Lady Bulldogs fell to the ICA Class 3A No. 11 state-ranked Panthers in five innings in an Interstate Eight Conference game.
Faith Clift had a home run for Streator (4-9, 2-5). Ellie Magana (2-for-3) and Aubrey Durdan (2-for-2) each had a pair of hits. Durdan (2 IP, 6 R, 2 ER, 6 H, 0 BB, 1 K) took the pitching loss.
WFC 7, Peoria Christian 3
At Peoria, the Warriors used a four-run fourth inning to defeat the Lady Chargers in a Tri-County Conference game.
Emily Friese (two doubles, two runs batted in), Shea Moritz and Kylie Kindermann all had a pair of hits to lead the Woodland/Flanagan-Cornell (6-6, 4-3) offense.
Moritz (4 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 7 K) was credited with the win in the circle in relief of starter Friese (3 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 4 BB, 3 K).

At Plano, the ICA Class 2A No. 14 state-ranked Lady Irish scored in every inning of their I-8 win over the Lady Reapers in six innings.
Lyda Robinson had four hits, including a double, and two runs batted in to lead the Seneca (13-1, 5-0) offense. Hayley Wilson (triple, three RBIs) and Maggie Carpenter (double) added a pair of hits apiece.
Carpenter recorded the win in the circle. She gave up one hit with one walk and nine strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings pitched.
Somonauk 13, Serena 0 (5 inn.)
At Somonauk, the ICA Class 1A top-ranked Lady Bobcats received a no-hitter from Tayler Fall and built a 7-0 advantage through two innings of play before putting up a six-spot in the fourth to beat the Lady Huskers (7-3, 6-2) in five innings in a Little Ten Conference game.
Fall, who walked one batter and struck out four, also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and three runs batted in to lead the Somonauk offense. Katy Tripp added a pair of hits. Jessica Christiansen and Shelby Peritore had two RBIs apiece.
Brianna Engel (4 IP, 13 R, 4 ER, 12 H, 3 BB, 4 K) took the pitching loss.
Newark 16, Hinckley-Big Rock 2 (5 inn.)
At Hinckley, the Lady Norsemen used an 11-run fourth inning to beat the Lady Royals in an LTC game.
Alyssa Schofield (triple, two runs batted in), Nikki Kala (2-for-3, double, two RBIs), Kaitlyn Hatteberg (home run, triple, three RBIs, three runs scored) and Cassidy Adams (2-for-3, three RBIs) all had a pair of hits to lead the Newark (5-2, 2-1) offense. Naomi Sweeney tripled. Riane Tomsa doubled.
Adams recorded the win in the circle. She allowed two runs (one earned) and four hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts in five innings pitched.

At LaMoille, the Raiders moved to 9-1 overall and 6-0 in LTC play by defeating the Lady Lions.
Julia Niles went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and four runs batted in to lead the Earlville-Leland offense. Skyler Brue (two doubles) and Kennedy Meloy (2-for-3, double) added a pair of hits apiece.

At Braidwood, the Lady Indians scored 10 runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Lady Comets in a high-scoring I-8 affair.
Brianna Avery went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, two stolen bases and four runs scored to lead the Sandwich (4-5, 3-2) offense. Lixy Lopez, Megan Schwartz (three runs batted in), Tara Bohnstedt (double, three RBIs), Ava Knepper and Hailey Ruhl all added a pair of hits. Jordyn Thulin doubled.

At Morris, the Pirates were edged by the Redskins in a Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference dual.
Posting a singles win for Ottawa was Jack Marvel at No. 1 (6-3, 6-3 over Peter Smyk). Notching a doubles victory was Nate Meyer and Logan Olszewski at No. 1 (6-2, 6-2 over Nolan Robbins and Oscar Segura).
Princeton 4, Streator 1
At Princeton, the Bulldogs fell to the Tigers in a dual match.
Posting Streator's lone win was Greg Rashid at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-2 over Jayden Pinter).
Streator 3, Coal City 0
At Coal City, the Lady Bulldogs moved to 7-0-1 overall and 3-0 in Interstate Eight Conference play by blanking the Lady Coalers.
Ashley McCurdy scored a pair of goals to lead Streator. Hannah Schmitz tallied the other goal. Schmitz, Natalie Grey, Shannon Paton and Millie Dean all notched assists.
Emma Harris made six saves to post the shutout.
Streator 9, Manteno 7
At SHS Athletic Fields, Streator moved to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in I-8 play by defeating Manteno.
Payton Benning (triple, two runs batted in) and Carter Pierce had a pair of hits apiece to lead the Streator offense. Christian Bedecker (two RBIs) and Logan Williamson both doubled.
Mason Telford (4 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 8 K) got the win on the mound.
