CLINTON — The Sandwich team of Garrett Beatty and Dexter Wesson scored a second-place finish of 77 entrants earlier this month at the Illinois High School Invitational Bass Tournament held at Clinton Lake.
Beatty and Wesson — aided by boat captain Len Beatty — weighed in five bass coming in at 15 pounds, 15 ounces and were awarded various prizes for their placement.
Proceeds from the event went to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.

Sandwich boys 1st at Reed-Custer
At Braidwood on Tuesday, the Sandwich Indians boys track and field team placed first in a five-team meet, scoring 88 team points to runner-up Plano's 80 1/2.
Sandwich firsts were scored by; Levi Franklin (136-7 in discus), Derek Murphy (44-11 1/2 in shot put), Seth Randa (:43.95 in 300 hurdles), Sam Brunoehler (:17.26 in 110 hurdles), Dylan Baumbach (:52.63 in 400), the 400 relay team of Randa, Max Pinkowski, Baumbach and Brunoehler (:46.85), the 800 team of Logan Ballas, Michael Marrs, Ian Kelson and Coyte Sprinkle (1:45.20) and the 3200 team of Brady Butler, Brett Butler, Steve Aguilar and Evan Underhile (9:27.36).
Jayden McCulskie added seconds in both the long jump (18-0 1/2) and triple jump (39-10 1/2).
