MARSEILLES — Robert S. “Sid” Greer, 77, of Marseilles, passed away Monday, April 16. Funeral services will be at noon Friday, April 20, at Marseilles Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Bill Clark officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery at a later date. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Sid was born Aug. 11, 1940, in Knifley, Ky., to William Conley and Lorene (Brockman) Greer. In 1962, he married Diane LaRock, of Marseilles, who survives.
He was a longtime member of Marseilles Church of the Nazarene, where he taught Sunday school. He graduated from Marseilles High School in 1959. He was employed by Caterpillar in Aurora until his retirement.
He was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats and Chicago Cubs fan. He was an IHSA basketball official for many years and enjoyed bicycling. Sid loved his family, his church and his Lord.
Sid is survived by his wife, Diane; two sons, Brian (Angie), of Shiloh, and David (Rhonda), of The Colony, Texas; two granddaughters, Allison and Danielle; two sisters, Norma (Bud) Kuhn, of Grand Ridge, and Laurie (Tom) Goodin, of Marseilles; one brother, Bill (Pat) Greer, of Marseilles; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Leonard; and a sister, Shirley.
Memorials may be given to Marseilles Church of the Nazarene.
