A new Casey’s General Store appears on the way for Tonica.
The location is the former site of the old Village Inn restaurant and truck stop on County Highway 54 (Ray Richardson Road) west of Route 251.
The location on the north side of town is close to the interchange of 54 with Interstate 39 to the west.
There currently is a Casey’s on the south side of Tonica at 306 S. First St.
The plan came up at the La Salle County Board’s Highway Committee meeting Wednesday in regards to roadway access needs for the new Casey’s.
County Engineer Larry Kinzer also reported directional signs to Starved Rock State Park requested by Tonica Mayor Kevin Sluder had been placed in two locations by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
