The Golf Road Villas project in Streator has been placed on hold.
City Engineer Jeremy Palm said the previously passed rezoning is expected to revert this summer.
The City Council originally approved rezoning property on Golf Road from single family to multi-family zoning in August. The project was expected to be completed in two phases and would consist of complexes and duplexes for residents 55 years and older.
Palm explained the rezoning was dependent on new units being developed within a year.
If no units are developed by August, the rezoning will revert to single-family zoning.
If the developer decides to move forward with the project in the future, the company would need to come back to the council for rezoning.
