PONTIAC — Vermillion Players, Livingston County’s community theater, announced audition dates for its summer children’s production of the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, 11 brothers and the coat of many colors.
Jerry Keck will direct. Appointment times available are 4, 5:30 and 7 p.m. Friday, April 27, or 9 and 10:30 a.m. and noon Saturday, April 28. Parents are required to call ahead to secure an audition, which will be at Central Grade School, 117 W. Livingston St., Pontiac

A parent or guardian must be present at auditions to complete required paperwork. Information will be given explaining the production and expectations of participants. A tentative rehearsal schedule also will be distributed.
Performances will take place at Pontiac’s Chautauqua Park Pavilion Wednesday, July 11, through Sunday, July 15. The children’s show will have an additional Wednesday public performance on July 11. Anyone who may have scheduling conflicts Monday, June 25, through Sunday, July 15, should speak to the production staff prior to auditioning.
Everyone is to enter the building from the Main Street doors at the gym entrance on the northeast side of the building. There is parking available on the street or the blacktop playground.
Everyone auditioning will participate in a voice check, costume measurement, simple dance audition and sing a solo music piece. Youths auditioning are asked to bring sheet music and be prepared to sing a song. A church hymn or school music contest song is best.
Dance auditions will consist of learning a short dance; everyone must wear either dance or tennis shoes. Once auditions are complete, the cast will be announced at a mandatory cast and parent meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, in the Central School gym.
