Registration for Carus Corporation’s Summer Science Camp will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 27. The free camp, which is open to students entering sixth grade in the fall, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, June 4, to Friday, June 8.
This year, campers may be in for a treat – a chance to learn inside St. Bede Academy’s new STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) addition. St. Bede will once again house the camp, with the school’s chemistry department head, Dan Fitzpatrick, leading as camp director.
Carus is also working with the Canal Corridor Association to bring back Camp Day at the Canal. Always popular, canal day offers campers a science-filled canal boat ride and mule meet and greet.
A graduation ceremony will be Friday, June 8. Families are invited to celebrate the end of camp as each student receives a camp certificate.
To register a child, call Kegan Pakula at 815-224-6535 no earlier than 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 27. Spaces are limited. Campers are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents who call before 8:30 a.m. will be asked to call back during registration hours.
Carus also hires local teachers to help administer camp. If you are teacher who is interested in applying for a camp position, call 815-224-6535 for more information.
