Two men, including one from Streator, were arrested during a drug investigation Monday in Wenona.
The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team said agents spotted a black Chevrolet SUV leaving a house under surveillance in Wenona. With aid from Wenona police, drug agents stopped the SUV, finding cocaine on an occupant, Erick S. Gholson, 35, Chicago. Gholson was taken to the Marshall County Jail in Lacon.
Police then searched a house at 421 S. Chestnut St., Wenona, where they said they found Benjamin Cook, 46, Streator. Cook was wanted on a La Salle County warrant for dealing heroin and crack cocaine in the Streator area. Cook was taken to the La Salle County Jail, needing $50,000 cash for bond. The public defender is representing Cook.
The La Salle and Marshall County sheriff's offices, as well as Toluca police, took part in Cook's arrest.
