A train and truck collision occurred Saturday afternoon on Main Street at the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe railroad crossing in Streator.
James Murphy, 50, Peoria, was traveling west in a delivery box truck over the tracks at about 2 p.m. and a BNSF train was traveling north at about 35 mph, when his vehicle was struck, according to a press release issued by Streator Police.
Police said the driver proceeded through the crossing going around the warning gates.
No injuries were reported.
Murphy was cited on complaints of disobeying a signal indicating the approaching of a train and was given a notice to appear in court.
Streator police, firefighters and Advanced Medical Transport responded to the scene.
The crossing was closed to traffic and the train stalled on the tracks for hours, while an investigation continued. The truck was parked off to the side of the tracks, showing much of its damage to its back end.
Streator Police and BNSF are investigating the incident.
