RURAL STREATOR — The Woodland/Flanagan-Cornell Warriors opened up Tri-County Conference play Thursday afternoon by beating the Midland Timberwolves 19-1 in five innings.
WFC (2-3 overall, 1-0 T-CC) scored a dozen runs in the second inning.
Chandler Hillebrenner (double, four runs batted in) and Collin Hjerpe (four runs scored) had a pair of hits apiece to lead the Warriors' offense. Kyle Voytko had two RBIs and scored four times.
Hillebrenner (3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 2 K) got the win on the mound. He was relieved by Hjerpe (2 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K).

At Rock Island, the Pirates put seven runs up on the scoreboard during their initial two trips to plate and then tacked on three more in the fourth inning of their nonconference win over the Pioneers.
Nathan Weitzel, Brandon Sauvageau, Logan Cheatham (three runs batted in) and Wyatt Hill all had a pair of hits to lead the Ottawa (6-4) offense. John Bruner had two RBIs. Jared Herzog scored three runs.
Alex Stevenson went the distance on the mound to get the win. He allowed five runs (four earned) and 13 hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Bloomington 10, Streator 0 (5 inn.)
At Howard Saar Field, the visiting Bulldogs were one-hit and suffered the shutout defeat. Zack Grabowski was dealt the pitching loss.

At Streator YMCA, Haylee Bruce scored a pair of goals to lead the Lady Bulldogs (5-0-1, 1-0) to the Interstate Eight Conference-opening win over the Ladycats. Shannon Paton and Alysaa Eutsey each tallied a goal. Millie Dean and Ashley McCurdy notched two assists apiece, while Eutsey and Anna Nelson had one each.
Emma Harris and Sydney Donahue made one save apiece.
