PERU — Betty Louise Peterson, 90, of Peru, formerly of Streator, passed away Monday evening, March 26, at Heritage Health in Peru.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Bill Callister officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Winterrowd Funeral Home in Streator is in charge of arrangements.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren, Todd Coates and Toby Coates, Scott Simons, Matt and Stacy Anderson and Emily Crow.
Betty was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Chicago, to Mort and Mary (Monts) Cave. She married Elliott "Pete" Peterson on Dec. 30, 1976. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2014.
Surviving are daughters, Georgene Kirschbaum, of Peru, and Julie (Richard) Maierhofer, of Seneca; son-in-law, Curt Simons, of Streator; grandchildren, Todd (Pam) Coates, Toby (Amy) Coates, Stacy (Matt) Anderson, Scott (Anna) Simons, Jena (Michael) Sheedy, Jill (Chad) Caputo and Janelle (Andrew Chamberlain) Maierhofer; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Sharon Simons; son, Paul Peterson; and sisters, Violet Castleton and Rosemary Cave in infancy.
Betty was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was formerly employed by DOORS and retired from Bakelite in Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to a charity of the donor's choice.
