Crash leaves man in critical condition

ANTIOCH TOWNSHIP – A 51-year-old Antioch man was in critical condition Feb. 24 after his 1962 Chevrolet Corvette left the roadway and wound up in a ditch, police said.

About 8:04 p.m. Feb. 24, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of Grass Lake Road, west of Bluff Lake Road in an unincorporated area near Antioch for a traffic crash with injuries. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found one vehicle with extensive damage.

Preliminary investigation showed a Corvette, driven by a 51-year-old Antioch man, was traveling west on Grass Lake Road when the vehicle left the roadway near the curve and came to rest in the north ditch. The driver was ejected from the vehicle, police said.

The driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
