Chief judge certifies finalists for associate judge vacancy

WAUKEGAN – The Circuit Judges of the 19th Judicial Circuit have met and named the finalists for the associate judge vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Joseph V. Salvi to Circuit judge, according to a news release.

Chief Judge Jay Ukena has certified the names of Ari P. Fisz of Deerfield and Reginald C. Mathews of Lindenhurst to the Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts in Springfield.

Fisz is an assistant Lake County state’s attorney. Mathews is the chief of the Gang and Narcotics Division with the Lake County State’s Attorney Office.

In a recent poll of the entire Lake County Bar Association, both candidates were recommended.

The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts will prepare the ballot containing the finalists’ names and mail them to all Lake County circuit judges. Each Circuit Judge will cast a secret ballot.

After the votes have been tabulated in Springfield, Ukena will be notified of the results.
