LIBERTYVILLE – Planning is underway for the popular Libertyville Elementary District 70 summer school with registration set to open March 4, according to a news release. Registration ends May 25.
Summer school will take place from June 11 through July 12, Monday through Thursday, for second through eighth grade at Highland Middle School, 310 W. Rockland Road, and will return next door for prekindergarten and pre-first grade classes at Rockland School, 160 W. Rockland Road, both in Libertyville.
An open house will take place June 7.
Adler Park physical education teacher and longtime summer school principal Gerry Carollo will continue as summer school director this year. Butterfield Assistant Principal Steve Feldman steps into the role as summer school principal.
“I’m very proud of the balance between academics and exploration our classes offer. There is really something for every student, every grade,” Carollo said in the release.
Students entering second through eighth grades in the fall will attend summer school at Highland, while younger children in prekindergarten, pre-first grade, and daily Spanish instruction, will attend the Copeland Manor elementary school.
Busing will be available for students to match school hours from 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. Busing information will be posted on the summer school website.
Summer school classes will be posted online on the district website, www.d70schools.org/summerschool as of Feb. 23. The link to register also will be on the summer school website.
