WAUKEGAN – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is seeking accreditation through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, sponsored by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
More than 20 law enforcement agencies are accredited through ILEAP. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is the first Illinois sheriff’s office to seek accreditation through ILEAP, according to a news release.
ILEAP is an accreditation program in which law enforcement agency policies and procedures are evaluated against established criteria, and have compliance with those criteria verified by an independent authoritative body, the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Council.
“I look forward to having the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program review the way we conduct business at the Lake County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Mark Curran said in the release. “Over the years we’ve raised the bar, making it a priority to improve policies, procedures, implement best practices, and be completely transparent with the community we serve.”
